Hong Kong: ILI and HFMD situation update

The Centre for Health Protection (CHP) of the Department of Health received reports of influenza-like illness (ILI) outbreaks in two schools affecting seven persons during the 24 hours ending at noon today (September 9).

Reports about hand, foot and mouth disease (HFMD) outbreaks involving 11 persons in five schools were received during the same period.

The above brought to four and 13 the cumulative totals of ILI and HFMD outbreak reports respectively since the start of the new school term in September.

Schools should refer to the guidelines on prevention of communicable diseases for practical information on measures to prevent common communicable diseases. More information is available on the CHP website at www.chp.gov.hk.
