Hong Kong: Cluster of Influenza A cases in Kwai Chung Hospital male ward reported

The following is issued on behalf of the Hospital Authority:

The spokesperson of Kwai Chung Hospital made the following announcement today (September 9):

Three patients (aged from 29 to 71) in a male ward have presented with symptoms of fever and flu since September 3.Viral test results of the three patients were positive for Influenza A. One of the patients has been transferred to Princess Margaret Hospital for treatment under isolation.All three patients are in stable condition.The hospital will continue to provide treatment to the remaining two patients and closely monitor their condition.

Admission and visits to the ward concerned are suspended for the time being.Infection control measures in the ward have been stepped up.All other patients in the ward are under close surveillance.

The cases have been reported to the Hospital Authority Head Office and the Centre for Health Protection for follow up.
